If Sony can keep it going they will but sales have declined so rapidly in 2009 I don't think it will be worth keeping it going into 2011. It has replacements now and that is where the focus should lie.

I still don't see how these guys can say the PS3 numbers 31 million, when last NPD had PS3 American sales at 10 million. So they sold 21 mil in other territories with no more than 12 mil in Europe and 4.5 mil in Japan.
See we can all do it. Thing is I know that there are many smaller markets in the world that result in the 360 and ps3 number...
Its the ps2 and the wii. It is these 2 that have brought millions of new people to gaming and provided orignal experiences. They are the commercial successes of the decade and got many non gamers into gaming.
The gaming industry needed the ps2 and the wii to rival the movie industry and thankfully it got them.

Final Fantasy games have always dropped like a stone. 1.5 million first week means it will struggle to cross the 2 million mark in its lifetime. Extremely frontloaded.

Where did this article come from? Abit late to the party isn't it with the ps3 now doing really well.
I agree that Sony deserved a poor start because their arrogance was unbelievable but they seem to have changed and really are focusing on what the consumer wants.
As for why the ps3 is not winning that the article seems so bothered about, well no one saw the huge success of the wii coming and fair play to Nintendo. Well done.

Sounds about right. Doubling YOY sales is abit much to ask during the down period for sales so my bet is 12 million for fiscal year, 1 million below target. But hey I could be wrong.
My predictions for April 1st 2010:
Wii: 68 million
Xbox: 38 million
PS3: 33 million
They have sold about 9 million since the start of April. So to sell 4 million more in the toughest 3 months of the year for sales is a tall order but then again the PS3 has an amazing line up. To happen I would say GT5 would have to release in Europe but it will be close as to whether they make the target.
EDIT: For reference the ps3 sold 2 million in the first 3 months of 2009. Can they double YOY sales to meet the target with the slim? Who knows!

And uncharted 2 has sold fine, in fact brilliant. It hasn't sold at COD levels because it simply doesn't have as many fans. Outside of sites like N4G then you can see the power of the causals in determining sales.

My guess is PS3>360 in LTD sales in summer 2011.
Tee gap is 5.7 million so to beat the 360 by sep 2010 it would need to outsell it by over 600K a month! Believable if the whole year was the christmas period but isn't going to happen in the real world. The ps3 needs another christmas period before it finally takes second.
Only about the DS declining. The thing is a beast and has a chance of outselling the ps2 in christmas 2010. It will definately pass it in 2011.
The first quarter will ensure the 360 and ps3 both have successful 2010s too hopefully.
